Talion was a lowborn man who gained the love of a noble lady and was exiled by his new father-in-law who got him to fill a vacant post among the Rangers of Gondor stationed at the Black Gate, the gateway into the lands of Mordor. However, his post would end up being overrun by of Sauron's army of Uruks led by three Black Númenórean captains, and he and his family would end up being ritually sacrificed. He himself, however, ended up being resurrected and joined with a Wraith, giving him new abilities and an opportunity to seek revenge on those who wronged him. He wields Urfael, the sword he carried in life as a Ranger of Gondor; Acharn, the hilt piece of his dead son's shattered sword used mainly for stealth attacks; and Azkâr, a bow used by the Wraith he's joined with when he was still alive, but can only be used when in the Wraith-world; all three of them can be upgraded using Runes. Talion's joining with the Wraith has enhanced his strength and speed, as well as his stealth and freerunning skills; is a skilled swordsman, able to wield his blades in sudden takedowns to engaging multiple opponents in open combat with great force and brutality in chains of strikes; is able to enter the Wraith-world and see enemies through walls and structures; as a Ranger, is an expert marksman with his bow; Brace of Daggers, able to throw spectral daggers; Fire Arrow, shooting arrows into barrels of alcohol and fires to make them explode while taking no damage himself; Wraith Stun, able to stun an enemy, and Wraith Blast, which increases the stun's range to a cone around a target; Shadow Strike, able to teleport a long distance to a target and immediately strike, either knocking them down or killing them instantly; and Wraith Burn, a wave of fire Area-of-Effect blast that kills all stunned enemies. His supernatural abilities and the Elf-Shot fired by his bow Azkâr both require life force drained from enemies, and as a Ranger he prefers not wearing armor to prevent slowing him down.

Geralt of Rivia is the son of a sorceress who was enrolled in Wolf School, a school of Witchers, at Kaer Morhen at a young age. It was there that he was trained, and made, into a Witcher, surviving the many ravaging mutations that give Witchers their abilities, as well as the Trial of the Grasses, the consumption of special alchemical ingredients that only three in ten of those who participate survive. Due to his success in his training, he was chosen for further mutation experiments and became the only one to survive them, giving him stark white hair as a side effect. His Witcher training completed, he embarked into the world as a monster slayer for hire. A Witcher traditionally uses two swords, and Geralt is no different - he wields a Steel Sword made from meteoric iron - which grants the weapon superior and even magical qualities - for use against monsters sensitive to iron, humans and nonhumans (elves, dwarves); a Silver Sword, the primary weapon for monster slaying whose silver construction allows it to cancel out certain monsters' abilities; and a Crossbow, constructed from hardened timber, monster bones and hair, and Dark Iron Ore, and able to fire silver bolts with a wide variety of effects, including Bait Bolts that attract monsters to the target; Blunt Bolts that do bludgeoning damage; Broadhead Bolts that make the target begin bleeding; Exploding Bolts that detonate on impact, also doing fire damage; Split Bolts, which turn into multiple projectiles; and Tracking Bolts, which will seek the target for two minutes; all of his weapons can be upgraded using Runestones and Glyphs. Geralt's Witcher training and physical modifications have given him superhuman physical and mental abilities, including heightened reflexes, increased speed, great strength and enhanced hearing; is especially gifted in swordplay, able to easily dispatch groups of foes whether they're human or monster and deflect arrows while parrying; is able to manipulate his pupils for improved night vision; can perform Signs, or magic, that include Aard, which launches a directed telekinetic blast that can stagger and damage single opponents or all opponents in a certain radius; Igni, which shoots fiery blasts or a continuous stream of fire that damages opponents and can set them to burning; Yrden, magic Area-of-Effect traps that can slow enemies, damage and slow enemies as well as destroy projectiles that pass into it, and make them steadily lose Vitality and Essence; Quen, a protective shield that absorbs damage and pushes opponents back when it breaks, damage inflicted on the shield restores Geralt's vitality, and reflects 5% of damage back to the attacker; and Axii, which charms an opponent's mind, temporarily removing them from combat; and is skilled in Alchemy, allowing Geralt to create oils that can be applied to his swords and can poison opponents, or add 5% protection against certain types of monster; and create handheld Bombs that can be thrown at enemies, including Cluster Bombs that separate into explosive fragments. Geralt can wear light, medium, or heavy armor, and can equip four Mutagens that can increase Attack Power, increase Vitality, or increase the intensity of his Signs. He is also 97 years old, with decades of experience as a Witcher.
